up early ~ the winter CSA deposit is only $50

Sweet Land Farm is coming
to Brooklyn! Yahooo! We are super excited to have
some fantastic people down your way who are making a winter
CSA possible
in Brooklyn this year. We have been running a winter and summer
CSA here in
Trumansburg, NY (in the lovely Finger Lakes) for the past 5
years, and now we're
heading to the city! Cornerstone,
a new restaurant and bar in Fort Greene that
specializes in using seasonal, local, and organic ingredients
has graciously offered
to host the winter CSA.

Distributions will be held
from

the

Fort Green, Brooklyn. See
dates below.
*
Distributions are every other week, with a 3 week break at the
end of January.
*
There are 6 distribution days - all on Mondays: December 5th,
December 19th, January 2nd, January 16th,
February 13th, and February 27th.
*There
are no make up days. Shares that are not picked up will be donated

of course, send someone
to pick up their share for them.
*
A winter share costs $250 and supplies a half bushel box of produce
every other week.
*
Shareholders may choose to buy 2 shares if they think that they
will use a bushel of produce every other
week.
A double
share costs $500.

Here's
what will most likely be in the share:
potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, kale, cabbage, Chinese cabbage,
leeks, beets, celeriac,
turnips, radishes, rutabagas, winter squash, celery, and greens
(spinach and
braising greens) from the 3 passive solar greenhouses.
We spend most
of October and November pulling in food from the fields and
storing it in the cooler for the
winter CSA. We do our best to estimate how many members will
join for the winter, but
hard facts make it much easier to decide how much to harvest
and store. To make it easier
for you to join early the winter deposit is only $50.
Join soon and lessen the guesswork.
Payments can be mailed or dropped off in the shed. Please include
your email on your check
when you join, even if I already have it. Now I may as well
wax poetic for a moment about
all of the wonders of eating locally in the winter in Central
NY.
Marvellous! Far out! Revolutionary!
Thanks all, and see you around,
Evangeline and Paul
